Can I choose categories for my apps on ConnectedTV platforms?
It is entirely up to each platform’s app store management to decide in which category a new app is being published. The review teams of each app store review the content and publish the app in the most suitable category. You may contact each platform directly if you wish to have your apps moved to a different category. The App Developer who submits your App may be able to ask for placement in a specific category on behalf of the publisher, but this is only possible on certain platforms, and of course no guarantee as this final decision is up to the platform.
Example: a platform may have the categories “Fitness” and “Sports” among others in their app store. A publisher of fitness related content orders app development from Lightcast.com. We submit the app to the platform for review, approval and publishing in the public app store. Upon reviewing the app and its content, the platform’s review team decides to place the app under “Fitness”. The publisher may want to have it moved to “Sport” instead in which case he has to contact the platform directly and ask for the app to be re-categorised."
