Can I download media files from Lightcast?

The download of individual media files is not possible because every upload has to go through a highly complex transcoding process in order to make multi-platform publishing possible and ensure maximum device compatibility across web, mobile and OTT. Therefore, not one file exists on the LightcastCDN, but up to 12 renditions. Which one would you download? In addition, the video files are encrypted and secured through a complex DRM system in order to prevent the download of individual video files. 

 

However, if you need to recover your archive of video files, we offer an Emergency File Recovery Service at a fee. It is a transfer of the highest quality video files of your complete archive to a dedicated FTP Server from which you can download your files as needed via secure FTP connection.
