Can I use Simulated Live Events in succession to create a continuous, linear stream?
A "Simulated Live Broadcast" is a scheduled live event, meaning scheduled for a specific day and time, which streams a previously recorded or uploaded video as a live-stream - the so-called "Simulated Live Broadcast”.
This feature can be used to simulate a live event with videos from a previous event if you want to provide a “live experience” to viewers, or you want to gather them together to view at the same time in order to provide live-chat, fundraising, promotion or other activities during your live-event.
The Simulated Live Feature is designed for individual live-events and not for playing a continuous, linear stream. If you create simulated live events bumper to bumper in the same LIVE Channel, there will always be a gap between live events due to the required minimum breaks in between same scheduled live events in the same LIVE Channel.
There are four types of live-streaming:
1. Live-Events (Ingested and Simulated Live Broadcasts)
2. VOD-to-LIVE linear loops: More information at https://help.lightcast.com/live-streaming#vod-to-live
3. Ingested Linear Streams: More information at https://help.lightcast.com/how-to-ingest-a-linear-stream-from-my-content-partner
4. Cloud-Generated Linear Streams (using a 24/7 Scheduler): More information at https://help.lightcast.com/24-7-streaming#24-7-cloud-scheduler
The purpose of Live-Events is to schedule and broadcast separate live events with minimum breaks in between, and the purpose of Linear Streams is to be a continuous, linear stream without interruption, break or player reload necessary.
