A Video Rental Store is a different service from the Pay-Per-View (PPV) ticket system, which is mainly used to sell tickets for Live Events. The purpose of a Video Rental Store is to make content available to watch for a specific time frame after purchasing the content. E.g. renting content for 48 hours after payment went through. The PPV system is not made for such cases as it's purpose is to give all users, who purchased a ticket, the same time-frame to watch the content, whether it is a live event, or on-demand content.
Case #1 on how to use PPV in conjunction with on-demand content:
One of the use cases for the PPV ticket system in conjunction with on-demand content is to provide an on-demand version of the PPV live event after the event has ended. It is simply the extension of the ticket validity and is designed primarily with having live event participants in mind, meaning ticket-holders, who purchased the ticket, are given the opportunity to watch the on-demand version following the live event as a bonus.
The extended ticket validity time (until any date of your choice following the live event date), allows customers to purchase a ticket before and after the event, throughout the entire ticket validity time. This makes it possible for customers, who did not attend the event, to purchase the same ticket in order to watch the on-demand version following the live event. That said, it uses the same ticket product and PPV service, thus the ticket is granting access to the defined Channels throughout the entire ticket validity term as defined by you.
This system also offers the opportunity to re-broadcast the on-demand file of the live event at a later date, one or multiple times, such as a week later. There is no limit to how many times you can program a Simulated Live Event during the ticket validity time. This means that you can continue to market the event with a second or third re-broadcast date, and continue to sell tickets.
Case #2 on how to use PPV in conjunction with on-demand content:
Another use case for the PPV ticket system in conjunction with on-demand content is when you want to sell more than one video with one transaction, such as a series, and set a price tag to one, or more, VOD Channels. All videos you have assigned to a VOD Channel will be available to them throughout the entire PPV ticket validity time once they paid to access it. Click here to read more about this use case.
In comparison, a Video Rental Store allows users to rent a single video item for a specific time frame after their payment for the rental fee went through. This service is also called "TVOD" or "Transactional Video On Demand". More information can be found at: https://help.lightcast.com/transactional-sales-tvod
