Which Android devices are compatible with AndroidTV Apps?
The GooglePlay Store accepts hundreds of different Android Apps - with numerous versions for a multitude of different devices and versions of Android-based operating systems. It is highly complex and understandable confusing to both publishers and consumers.
While there could be a lot more devices on the market which have the capability to download and install AndroidTV Apps, you will find a list of known devices which are officially AndroidTV approved and compatible according to Google at

As you download and install apps from the GooglePlay Store, please double-check and make sure that the App you are downloading has actually been built for your device. Many brands, companies and organizations have more than one Android App. Many have Android Apps for smartphones, some for tablets, others for watches, GoogleTV, AndroidTV and even gaming consoles.
While you may be able to see different Android Apps in the Play Store, and you may even be able to download and install different versions of a brand’s App, only the App type built for your device will actually work as expected, while other Apps may not work at all, or only with critical limitations.
When installing Apps from the Play Store on a TV Screen or ConnectedTV device: Make sure it is an AndroidTV App built for your specific device.
