Can we import videos from YouTube, Facebook or Vimeo?
Currently the transfer of media files and metadata from contents uploaded to social media sites like YouTube, Facebook or Vimeo pose a violation to their terms of service. We are in contact with them to negotiate a special treaty under which we would be allowed to import contents from their platforms directly. However, it is not in the platforms interest to transfer videos and metadata from their servers to anyone else’s.
Lightcast, on the opposite, does support the transfer of files to YouTube, Facebook and other platforms, but they do not allow it the other way around. Lightcast.com has no intention to limit customers to one or just a few platforms, but wants publishers to maximize distribution, viewership exposure and marketing value on as many websites and app platforms as possible, but that is not the intention of many other platforms and players in this space.
