Can we live stream from a Tricaster?
Yes, you can live stream with a Tricaster. With the TriCaster, anyone can simultaneously produce, stream and record HD and SD network-style productions.
In general, all market standard hardware encoders would work, as long as they output H.264 for video and AAC audio. Before you purchase an encoder, please consider following:
- The number of streams that you will deliver and the formats you'll deliver in. For small publishers, this might be a single H.264 stream, for large producers, this might mean multiple adaptive groups of streams. Please consider to have sufficient outbound bandwidth when streaming with multiple bitrates.
- Once you defined the streams, identify the features incorporated with the streams (e.g. captioning, advertising insertion, DRM - Digital Rights Management). If you need such features, your potential encoder candidates shrink dramatically, since very few encoders support them (mostly the expensive ones).
- Make sure your hardware encoder connects with your video production gear, whether you are using a single camera or production mixer.
- If you’re streaming a lecture or similar presentation, consider a system such as Winnov’s Cbox encoder series, which can accept multiple video and digital visual interface (DVI) input from another computer, which is often used to stream a PowerPoint presentation or software demonstration.
