Podcast Channels

I already have a Podcast on various different Podcast platforms. Can Lightcast publish new uploads to it?

Certain Lightcast Service Packages include the development and submission of various different Podcast feeds. If you would like for your existing Podcast to display your episodes uploaded to a Channel in your Lightcast Media Cloud account, we recommend to configure a "301 Redirect" in your existing Podcast feed. This simply means that your existing Podcast feed will redirect to your new Podcast feed setup by Lightcast.

Step 1: Check which Podcasts are included in your Package at www.lightcast.com/packages or purchase the setup of a Podcast if your package does not include Podcasts.

Step 2: Ask our Customer Care at customercare@lightcast.com to setup the new Podcast feed for you and ask for the RSS feed URL.

Step 3: Configure a "301 Redirect" with your old Podcast RSS feed. A "301 Redirect" means that your existing subscribers are now seeing the episodes you upload via Lightcast. Its similar to a domain forward of your domain: If you forward a domain i.e. from mydomain.com to mybrandnewdomain.com, viewers who open mydomain.com would automatically be re-directed to mybrandnewdomain.com.

Step 4: To confirm that your "301 Redirect" worked, navigate to your old Podcast RSS feed and copy and paste the feed into your browser. If it redirects to the Lightcast feed then you're all set and you can cancel your other Podcast hosting account after your new Podcast is setup by Lightcast. We always recommend to give it about 2 more weeks just to be on the safe side as some Podcast platforms need a few days to propagate your new feed on their platform.
