I discovered that one of my apps is offline in a specific app store. Why did Lightcast.com allow this to happen? Can I get compensation for it?

Many OTT/ConnectedTV platforms offer complimentary publishing of channels/apps in their app stores. Some platforms may charge a fee to publishers. Other platforms waive the fee. In every case publishing of apps in app stores is at each platform’s discretion. While each platform retains the rights to review, approve or remove apps from app stores without notification or explanation, the removal of apps from app stores is extremely rare and usually only temporary for specific reasons.

Lightcast.com has no control over the platforms and their app stores and our Terms of Service explain the relationship between publisher, OVP, CDN and publishing platforms clearly. Our Clients pay Lightcast.com for OVP & CDN services to provide a media management system (SaaS), transcoding, storage and delivery of all media to all publishing properties. Lightcast.com cannot be held responsible for the decisions of platforms and app stores regarding assignment to categories, approval or removal of apps. Neither can Lightcast.com control or prevent app stores from exercising on their rights to approve or remove apps, nor can we compensate Clients for removals from app stores or guarantee continuous complimentary updates to changes in operating systems or app software rolled out by each platform.

Should your app have been removed from an app store, please notify Lightcast.com and we will be happy to inquire with the app store platform on your behalf to see how the temporary deactivation can be resolved and your app made visible again inside the respective app store.
