I would like to have TV Apps developed for certain SmartTV brands and Gaming Consoles. Why is the development more expensive than for my other Apps?

Proprietary TV-brand Apps (for Samsung and LG App stores), as well as Gaming Console Apps (for XBOX, Sony PlayStation) start at that $12k level. We can provide existing clients with a nice discount - especially if they bulk order and fully pre-pay multiple apps at the same time.

Reasons why these Apps are more expensive than most likely your other TV Apps such as Roku, FireTV, AndroidTV and AppleTV:

  • The programming, review and approval effort is exponentially greater with these niche-platforms. 
  • Very few developers can build a Samsung and/or LG SmartTV App.
  • The approval process is very cumbersome with their App Stores. 
  • It is also not guaranteed that the Apps would be approved by the App stores, as Samsung is only accepting a handful of Apps and LG is adopting AndroidTV increasingly. Which means more SmartTVs can be expected to have AndroidTV on board as their primary OS and App store system

Why is this of interest only to a limited, selected number of publishers? 

  1. Most end-users already have one of the major set-top-boxes (Roku, FireTV, AppleTV, AndroidTV), using them in addition to their SmartTVs
  2. Their market share in the US is small in comparison to Roku, FireTV, AppleTV, AndroidTV

These specialized, niche-plaform apps are feasible and relevant for: 

  1. Larger brands/publishers/companies for marketing purposes
  2. Medium to large video rental stores 
  3. Game Producers/Developers
  4. Brands/publishers/companies with products/services targeting European markets (since the big set-top-box platforms are not as big there yet, and the market share of Samsung & LG SmartTVs are higher in Europe)
