Is it possible to integrate SCTE markers or timestamps for Ad-Breaks in linear stream feeds for TV broadcast stations?
SCTE markers and similar markers for ad breaks in linear streams required by TV broadcast stations, terrestrial or cable channels, and satellite uplinks, are broadcast requirements which are not a standard for online streaming services or OTT providers. Web browsers and apps do not require such markers and streaming service providers and OVPs such as Lightcast do not provide broadcast services. We would recommend to use a broadcast playout system which has to meet such requirements of course. Streaming providers do not, as they are not a broadcast playout service.
In the case of the Lightcast OVP: you are allowed to pass on an m3u8 feed version of your stream to Television broadcast outlets, but please note that customizations to feeds per requirements of your Television broadcast outlets will incur additional fees, if at all possible, as Lightcast is a web, mobile and OTT streaming provider, and not a TV broadcast playout service.
Please inquire with customercare@lightcast.com for feed development and any customizations you might need and we will be happy to send you further information.
