What could be the reason? 1. An unexpected increase in viewership. Live events could be shared, promoted and even go viral. The same is true for linear 24/7 streams. It is virtually impossible to prophecy the exact viewership numbers of an upcoming event or for a linear 24/7 stream at all times. 2. Streaming overheads for setup, testing, QA and transcoding Setup, Testing: usually 50-100 views/500-1000 VM. Exceptions may deviate from common averages if custom requirements or challenges at the streaming location require more encoder testing. Publisher Encoder Setup: This factor depends on the publisher’s media team, their hardware/software and experience level and the local ISP and broadcast environment (usually 10-100 views/50-500 VM) Publisher Testing: This factor depends on how involved the publishers and his teams are and how much they test, watch and monitor the streams on their own devices. Live-Transcoding (HLS, HDS, ConnectedTV): 2 VM billed per minute with public viewership. (in/output live-transcoding. We absorb the costs whenever there are 0 viewers during a live-stream and only bill whenever at least one viewer consumes the transcoded stream. The billing for live-transcoding accounts for 2 views whenever it kicks in).
