What is the best file format to upload video files via the Web Uploader?

The Lightcast Web Uploaders - available in your Lightcast Media Cloud account - accepts almost all common file types. The list of recommended video formats and other recommendations can be found below:

The current maximum file size is 4GB.
Supported Video Formats: wmv, mpg, mpeg, mp4, qt, 3gp, avi, asf, mov, flv, m4v, mkv
Your video should have a resolution of at least 640x480 to achieve a good video stream quality.
Tip: if you are uploading professionally produced video content, such as TV-shows or movies, please make sure, that the video file is de-interlaced to avoid "interlace lines".

Please keep in mind that the Lightcast Web Uploaders have a file size limit of 4GB. If your video files are larger than 4GB please order an FTP account with Customer Care. Your FTP account will accept files larger than 4GB (up to 15GB) and is designated for bulk uploads of 25 or more video files at once.

When it comes to encoding settings, we recommend H.264 video and AAC audio, encoded into MP4 (ideally under 1GB per file and a maximum of 4GB per file).
