Facebook Live Streaming

Why are live streams via Facebook not saved as on-demand files automatically?

Facebook does not store live-streams as on-demand files automatically when passed on from an OVP, assuming that the OVP already records the live-stream and makes it available in a much higher quality.  Using the LightcastOVP your live-streams are recorded in the best quality for optimal delivery on our CDN and can be sent into transcoding for multi-platform publishing, bitrate-adaptive delivery and maximum device compatibility. This creates an archive of your live-streams inside your  Lightcast.com Account, optimized for digital media distribution to many platforms, including - but not limited to - Facebook of course. And on top of it you have a safe backup of all your live streams in your Lightcast Media Archive should your local archiving fails.
In order to achieve the best results, make sure your  Lightcast.com Service Package includes LIVE-to-VOD service, click on “Upload Video” and then select one of your recorded live-streams, add title, description, keywords, custom thumbnails or player artwork, or you can even edit your live stream by trimming beginning and end, then select “Publish this Video to Facebook” (and YouTube and other publishing properties connected to your LightcastOVP Account), and complete the upload just like you would with a regular video. Now your recorded live-stream will run through Lightcast’s Premium Transcoding and output 12 different bitrates and file formats for maximum device compatibility. It is instantly published in highest quality to Facebook, YouTube (provided you selected these platforms as publishing targets) and connected websites, mobile apps and TV Apps - all in one single step in the highest possible quality! It doesn’t get any better than this!
