Why can I view my stream on a TV App when I have a negative video minute balance?
The reason that Lightcast allows this is because we want to protect your video assets when you accidentally reach a negative balance of Video Minutes. We want to give our clients enough time to purchase more video minutes, turn on Overdraft Protection, or upgrade their package without compromising their assets on Lightcast platforms.
We also do this to protect your reputation with the TV App publishers. Many publishers disallow the unexpected termination of a 24/7 broadcasts and they are within their rights to ban apps which violate their streaming standards. In order to maintain good standing with the App publishers we have enabled this “grace period” for clients who accidentally reach a negative Video Minute balance.
